There are tons of free puzzles you can choose from and still you are able to add word search words or modify the list. But if you want to use your own vocabulary, no problem. By default the words placed in all directions in the puzzle. You can change which directions will be used in the puzzle to make the puzzle a little bit easier for the students.

Another option is to print all the letters in upper case, just tick 'Use Capital Letters'. This make it easier to read. To make it even more easy; start all the words in the list with an upper case letter and turn off 'Use Capital Letters'. Then create a new puzzle. The word search maker will create a puzzle with lower and upper case letters. It will be easy to find the start position of the words.
